Methodology

A structured, transparent approach to turning your answers into readiness context — with clear limits.

Structured questionnaires

Each assessment uses predefined multiple-choice questions aligned to commonly observed steps in UK probate, LPA, inheritance dispute, or divorce admin processes.

Questions are designed for preparation context — not to collect sensitive identifiers such as full addresses, bank details, or National Insurance numbers.

Evidence-led scoring

Your responses are mapped to readiness themes and friction signals using versioned scoring rules maintained with the assessment packs.

Scores summarise patterns in your answers. They do not assess legal merit, document validity, or professional liability.

Risk bands

  • Green — fewer friction signals; some uncertainty may remain.
  • Amber — several signals or uncertainties that commonly slow progress.
  • Red — overlapping signals or unclear key information that often leads to delays unless clarified.

Uncertainty handling

"Not sure" answers are allowed and are treated as uncertainty rather than ignored.

Free tiers cover fewer question areas; reports reflect partial coverage through uncertainty indicators.

Confidence and limitations

Report confidence depends on answer completeness, tier coverage, and the scope of the assessment pack.

KinClarity does not claim exhaustive legal coverage. Where your situation may need regulated advice, reports signpost that limitation plainly.

Source discipline

Public content and report signposting prioritise official UK guidance (for example GOV.UK and OPG) where relevant.

Editorial and knowledge workflows apply review gates before material changes ship — see our Editorial Policy.

Continuous improvement

Question sets, scoring weights, and report templates are versioned and improved using structured feedback, support issues, and internal QA.

Material methodology changes are reflected in assessment pack versions; we do not retroactively alter completed reports.
